We are proud to announce the system update of Skloog to version 2.1! The release of this update was automatic, but we would like to mention the finer points of this update that will be most valuable to you.
For starters, the appearances of your bookmarked shortcuts have undergone some subtle changes. The shortcuts themselves will appear slightly smaller, as there are now more shortcuts per line. This enables you to view more shortcuts, with less scrolling. Additionally, the “Edit” and “Delete” options that you have been accustomed to seeing as you scroll over a particular shortcut are no longer there. Instead, you will find a much neater “Options” image that will allow you to edit or delete the shortcut without leaving the page.
A “Manage Shortcut” layer will appear on the left side of the tab and you will be able to edit or delete the shortcut from there. From the same button you can now add notes in each shortcut, giving you even more personalization. With these notes, you can put in anything from password hints to reminders, making the bookmarks completely your own.
You will notice a new option on the top right corner of each tab titled “Private.” This new button allows you to share your bookmarking tabs with friends and/or associates. This gives you more control over what is it exactly that you share. You can enjoy the option of creating “Private” tabs that will not be shared, while still allowing the option to “Make Public” for the ones you want to share. Plus, with this new button you can add descriptions that will be displayed at the top of each tab for yourself and your new viewers.
We have also expanded the means in which you can share your shortcuts. Widgets let you display any of your public tabs on any website or blog page, and you can customize the widget to your convenience. Customizations include a Color Picker that allows for the most precise choice of colors to blend in perfectly with your designated location for the Skloog widget. To get to your own widget, simply choose “Create Widget” from the drop down menu in your “Public” tab. From there you will be redirected to a new page where you can customize your new widget. Once you have finished customizing your widget, simply press “Get Code” and you can copy/paste the code into the blog/website of your choice. Your widget will be available for the public to see your favorite bookmarks!
